Hi! My name is Carrie Chestnut, and I have been married to Scott Chestnut for 27 years. We have twin sons who are 21, and we are a house divided, since one studies Mechanical Engineering at MSU and the other studies Economics/Finance at U of MT. I work as the Director of Operations for a local logistics company. We were drawn to Journey by the Lord through the compelling contemporary worship, the youth program, and Journey’s mission to reach out to our treasured Bozeman community.
I am a native of the Bozeman area and graduated from Manhattan Christian School. After attending Dordt College and earning a degree in Ag-Business, I returned to the valley and became involved in an agricultural operation (aka – a farmer). My wife Patricia and I have four beautiful daughters, along with four great son-in-laws, and recently became grandparents. I thrive on anything outdoors, including hunting and fishing, but also savor a spiritual conversation over a cup of coffee. We have attended Journey Church for over seven years and love being involved in a church that is all about impacting the community with the love of Christ.
I have so much fun as the Worship and Arts Pastor at Journey. When I’m not in creative mode at work or spending time with my beautiful wife Stephanie or my kids Jane, Jack, Charlie, and Millie, I’m out on a tennis court or out on a river doing more fishing than catching. Be sure to say “Hi” after one of our Sunday Worship Gatherings!
I was blessed to grow up in this valley with parents that taught me who Jesus was from a very young age. In my early teenage years, my faith became my own and I committed my life to Jesus. I am grateful for the many amazing people who have poured into me, and I hope to be that person in others’ lives. I have been Jason’s wife for ten years, and we have the privilege of being mom and dad to our four kids. We started attending Journey at some of the start up services, and my heart was drawn to a community that wanted to make church an approachable space for anyone needing Jesus. Jason and I have been a part of Journey ever since, and we are blessed to be able to serve together in ministry at Journey often.
I’m excited to be invited to serve on the Journey Church Council! I am 39 years old and work as a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones Investments. My wife, Holly, and I have four daughters: Lucy (10), Chloe (9), Gina (6), and Margo (5). We discovered Journey shortly after our move from Helena to Bozeman in January 2013 and felt at home right away. We love the outward mission of the church to reach the valley and beyond.
I love my job as the Executive Pastor of Journey Church. I began my work here in July of 2007. I am married to Michele! You can almost always find me around our worship gatherings on Sunday, so please make a point to say hi. When I get a chance I am usually surrounded by water chasing after trout with a fly rod. Hope to see you on a river some day.
I am an an avid outdoorsman and entrepreneur. Originally from Illinois, I moved west to attend Montana State University and soon put down roots. I am the founder of Big Sky Carvers, Warm Springs Productions (a television production company) and Missoula Brewing Company. As a Christ follower, I have served several ministries and charities, most recently I am serving as Church Champion and on the National Board of Directors for Fathers in the Field, a ministry to fatherless boys. I currently live on a farm in Manhattan with my wife Sherrie where we raised two boys, two girls, and many labrador retrievers. My wife and I were drawn to Journey about seven years ago because of the tangible Christ-centered impact it has on the Valley.
I believe that the “sweet spot” of life with Christ is not only knowing Him but making Him known to others. We experience Him in deeper and greater ways as we are used by Him in His redemptive mission in the world. I long to see a day around Journey when everyone who truly knows Jesus is on mission with Him by making disciples who can make disciples. I have spent the last 20 years of ministry building evangelistic movements on the college campus with the ministry of CRU and hope to spend the next 20 building those same kinds of movements around the Gallatin Valley and beyond. I have a beautiful wife Carmen and 3 great kids (Jadon, Josiah, and Abi).
I am originally from Seattle, Washington and moved to Montana in 1998 to work for a non-profit ministry, Youth With A Mission (YWAM), which has allowed me to travel to 30+ countries, so far. 🙂 I moved back to Bozeman, after living in South Africa in 2009, with my husband Paul. We have two beautiful children, Capri (5) and Emmett (1). I have the privilege of working part-time at Gallatin Valley Pediatric Dentistry and staying at home with my children. We have been a part of Journey church for 6+ years now and call it home. God has lead us to Bozeman and we absolutely love living and raising our family in this beautiful place. We have a heart to serve and grow disciples as we continue to grow in our relationship with God ourselves.
My husband, Marc, and I are Gallatin Valley natives and returned home about 20 years ago when I started at Murdoch’s after leaving public accounting. I’m still with Murdoch’s serving as the Chief Operating Officer and a co-owner. Our family is growing as our sons, Chris and Colter, have found amazing women, Anika and Brittany, and now Chris and Anika have two children of their own, Evan and Adele. I enjoy golfing, snow skiing, boating, photography, dirt bike riding and gardening. Journey’s community involvement and their love for people is what brought me here and I am thrilled to call Journey my church home for over five years now.
Nels Tate – Junior Council Member*
I’m originally from Missoula, and moved over to Bozeman in the Fall of 2011 to attend school at Montana State. It was then that I first got connected with Journey, and I have been here ever since. Throughout my high school and college careers, I have been involved with student leadership positions with a couple churches as well as the organization CRU. I started volunteering with the Journey Tech Team in 2014 and proceeded to intern with Journey for a year and a half as a Tech Intern and Downtown Campus Director after graduating in 2015. I currently am an Audio/Visual Engineer at Poindexter’s AV in Bozeman, and owner of Moshunal, a small DJ and Production company. I’m excited to be serving on the council and seeing what God does in the life of Journey.
*The Junior Council Member position is appointed by The Lead Team and Council. The position has no voting power but was designed as a channel for leadership development. This position is not required to be affirmed by The Journey Church Partners.
